Schenker, StarTrans to start joint venture
International forwarding and logistics company Schenker and Hong Kong-based StarTrans International have agreed to start a joint venture freight forwarding company specializing in the Asia/U.S trade.
Schenker will have the majority interest in the joint venture.
“Together with StarTrans we will have a very competitive business model for air freight on the transpacific route, in one of the fastest growing markets. Furthermore, together with BAX we will become a leading player on that lane,” said Thomas C. Lieb, Schenker’s board member responsible for air and sea freight operations. “StarTrans will complement our global network perfectly and will enrich our logistics offerings, with regards to more comprehensive services in global supply chain management.”
“The new joint venture aims to expand the business of freight forwarding globally and will bring Schenker and StarTrans to new heights of success. This arrangement will also give enormous benefits to all our customers in the areas of enhanced facilities, efficiency and expansion of routes as the new venture is a total solutions provider in freight forwarding,” said Eddie Yau, chairman of StarTrans.
