SCHENKER STRENGTHENS OPERATIONS IN IRELAND
Schenker has increased its presence in Ireland’s freight market by acquiring long-time partner Inter-Continental Cargo Ltd.
The new company, Schenker-ICC Ltd., will provide land transport, international air and sea freight, and other logistics services. It will also maintain a comprehensive trailer and express service between Ireland and the United Kingdom, Schenker said.
Schenker-ICC has 40 employees at locations in Dublin and Shannon. The company’s main clients are high-tech and pharmaceutical shippers.
Rory Keating, formerly head of Inter-Continental Cargo, will become managing director of Schenker-ICC, and Dave Gorman will be the company’s director.
“Numerous companies from across the globe are continuing to expand their market segments in the European Union,” said Schenker, based in Essen, Germany. The company believes its new Irish operation serves as “a model in its concept of marketing a worldwide network through local knowledge and expertise.”
