Schenker to open logistics centers in Shanghai, Beijing
Schenker will open a 16,500-square-meter logistics center in Shanghai by the fall and is concurrently building a 15,000-square-meter center near Beijing airport.
“Shanghai is regarded as one of the fastest growing cities in the world, and is the focal point of the central Chinese economic area,” Schenker said. The company expects that, over the long term, Shanghai will be an important hub for logistics in China.
The Beijing logistics facility is being built for the joint venture Schenker BITCC Logistics, set up by Schenker together with Beijing International Technology Cooperation Center. The joint company went into operation in mid-2003 and serves customers from the automotive, electrical and plant engineering sectors.
