Sea Box provides prototype containers to U.S. military unit
Sea Box Inc, an East Riverton, N.J.-based container manufacturer, said it has completed on an initial order to deliver 15 prototype unit to the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, based in Warren, Mich.
Sea Box was awarded a contract after bidding to supply the U.S. Defense Department with 138,000 containers over the next five years. The 15 prototypes include several types of International Standards Organization (ISO) and non-ISO shipping containers.
“This initial $314,000 order represents the first part of the $431 million contract awarded in November 2004 to Sea Box by TACom,” Sea Box said, referring to the Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command.
The containers will be constructed in Turkey and will be fitted with some U.S. components. Delivery is scheduled by November 2009.
