SEABOARD MARINE TAKES ON CONCORDE’S CENTRAL AMERICAN SERVICE

Seaboard Marine Ltd., based in Miami, will assume control of Concorde Line’s service between the U.S. Gulf region and Central America, starting in early September.

“This is a natural extension to our growing U.S. Gulf presence,” said John Lynch, president and chief executive officer of Seaboard Marine.

Seaboard will continue to follow Concorde’s one-vessel fortnightly rotation: Houston, New Orleans, Belize, Honduras and Guatemala. Seaboard’s existing vessel sailings from Miami to Central America remain unchanged.

Industry sources say that Seaboard will announce its formal acquisition of Concorde in September.

Seaboard also announced the start-up of a new service from Houston (beginning Aug. 19) and Miami (beginning Aug. 22) direct to Buenaventura, Colombia.
