Seaboard to resume normal service to New Orleans

Seaboard Marine will resume regular weekly service between New Orleans and ports in the Caribbean and Latin America on January 9.

Seaboard resumed limited service at New Orleans shortly after Hurricane Katrina, but did not make the decision to resume service to pre-hurricane levels until a new customer prompted the return of weekly service.

'With some hard work and the support of our regular customers, we have been able to put the shipping line back together,' commented Capt. Kelvin Troughton, the general manager for Seaboard in New Orleans.

Port of New Orleans President and Chief Executive Officer Gary LaGrange said the return of regular service by Seaboard is 'one of many milestones in our recovery process.'
