Seaspan receives 4,250-TEU ship for charter to CP Ships
Canadian non-operating vessel charter owner Seaspan Corp. Thursday received the 4,250-TEU “Saigon Express,” which is due for charter to CP USA, a subsidiary of German-owned CP Ships.
The vessel, built by Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., is the fourth of nine same-size Seaspan vessels that CP Ships plans to deploy on its U.S. East Coast/Indian subcontinent service.
Seaspan now has a fleet of 16 containerships: 14 4,250-TEU vessels and two 8,500-TEU ships. The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company has 13 ships on order — two 9,600-TEU vessels, five of 4,250 TEUs, two of 3,500 TEUs and four of 2,500 TEUs — due for delivery over the course of the next three years.
