Senator Lines’ operating result up 76%
Senator Lines, the Bremen-based shipping subsidiary of Hanjin Shipping, said it improved its operating result by 76 percent in 2004 to euros 63 million ($76 million).
The German shipping line said it carried 640,854 TEUs in 2004, up 3 percent on the 621,717 TEUs handled in 2003.
In 2003, Senator Lines pulled out of all trades calling at the United States. Currently, it is involved on 16 liner services, of which it provides ships on just one loop, operating between Europe, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, Asia, Canada and South America.
“We owe this outstanding result to the rapid development seen in Asia, but not only to this,” said Hans-Herman Mohr, Senator Lines’ chief executive officer, before adding, “Since we operate primarily as a slot carrier, our 500 staff world-wide know that service is Senator Lines’ recipe for success, and it cannot be otherwise.”
