SHORT LINE TO USE FEDERAL LOAN FOR TRACK REHABILITATION
The Arkansas & Missouri Railroad received an $11-million loan from the Federal Railroad Administration to upgrade 50 to 60 miles of track so it can handle the new generation, 286,000-pound rail cars, Mark Bonnell, vice president of marketing confirmed.
The short line rail extends 150 miles from Monett, Mo., to Fort Smith, Ark., and serves 140 freight customers.
