SKYTEAM ALLIANCE TO ADOPT JOINT CARGO STANDARDS

SKYTEAM ALLIANCE TO ADOPT JOINT CARGO STANDARDS

Air France, Aeromexico, Delta Air Lines and Korean Air, the carriers of the SkyTeam alliance, will adopt joint key performance indicators to measure the quality of their cargo services, an executive of Air France said.

Priscilla Tuchmuntz-Lahitte, marketing and communications manager at Air France Cargo, told the European Shippers’ Council conference in Rotterdam that common performance standards are being developed by the new cargo alliance of SkyTeam, announced recently.

Air France Cargo has a set of key performance indicators that it measures at its main Paris hub, but those quality measurements are not currently done elsewhere, Tuchmuntz-Lahitte said. The performance measurements cover service attributes such as the percentage of shipments flown as booked and arrival punctuality.

Tuchmuntz-Lahitte said that it sends reports containing its performance ratings to its forwarder customers and other organizations, and plans to publish this information on its Internet site.

Air France Cargo also asks its customers about their perceptions of its service quality, and how it compares with competing airlines’ services. “We don’t know our competitors’ key performance indicators,” Tuchmuntz-Lahitte said.
