SMITH STEPS DOWN AS COO OF LIBERIAN REGISTER

   Jeremy M.S. Smith, a well-known figure in the maritime industry, said he has stepped down as chief operating officer of International Ship and Corporate Registry.

   “At my request, I no longer have the position of COO, but will be serving as a consultant” for the registry, which keeps offices in New York City and Reston, Va., Smith said.

   Scott R. Bergeron, the registry’s marine operations officer, will have all operational authority, according to a spokesman. He will be based in Reston, starting Aug. 28. The registry is terminating the title of chief operating officer.
