The two companies will become Sobel Network Shipping Co., and will offer a suite of end-to-end logistics services, including customs clearance services, for U.S. importers and exporters.
New York-based Sobel Shipping Co., Inc. will merge with Network Brokers International, Inc., to provide international freight forwarding and customs clearance services for U.S. importers and exporters, the company announced on Tuesday.
The merger will create the new Sobel Network Shipping Co., Inc., and will combine the two leadership teams and staff to offer a suite of end-to-end logistics services. Sobel Network Shipping Co., Inc. holds an FMC OTI license, is a member of IATA, is a TSA-registered Indirect Air Carrier and a nationally permitted Customs broker, the company said.
Network Brokers International, Inc., was founded in 1981 by sisters Judy and Trisha Kearney and has provided Customs clearance and international freight forwarding services, while Sobel Shipping Co., Inc. was founded in 1949 by Hyman Sobel and purchased by Brian Wills in 2015.
“I’ve been working for twenty-three years in the New York market and Network Brokers has built a reputation that is well-respected and admired,” said Brian Wills, president of the newly-formed Sobel Network Shipping Co., Inc. “Although competitors for years, I have been friends with Judy and Trisha and know the way they lead their employees and work on behalf of their customers is identical to how I have focused on leading Sobel. This merger will bring together two like-minded companies who have unlimited upward potential.”
Judy Kearney, president of Network Brokers International, Inc., stated that, “Our focus has always been providing hands-on personalized services to our clients. Brian and his team operate the same way. Combining our talents and resources will enable us to provide greater value and enhanced service to our clients.”
