SOUTH SEAS INCREASES CHARGES

   South Seas Steamship Line, an affiliate of the Hamburg-Sud shipping group, will increase its bunker adjustment factor for services to and from Fiji, French Polynesia, American Samoa, Western Samoa and Tonga, effective Dec. 1.

   The northbound and southbound bunker surcharge will go up from 9 percent to 12 percent.

   Also effective Dec. 1, the carrier’s U.S. West Coast terminal handling charge for northbound and southbound shipments will increase from the current rates of $390 per 20-foot container and $620 per 40-footer to $420 per 20-foot box and $650 per 40-foot container.
