Stricken “Hyundai Fortune” on tow to Salalah
The containership “Hyundai Fortune” is now under tow to the Port of Salalah, following the blazing fire that started aboard the 5,551-TEU vessel March 21.
The Hyundai-operated ship is expected to arrive at the port in the Sultanate of Oman Wednesday morning when it and the cargo will be inspected closely before a decision for on-carriage of cargo is made. The vessel owners declared general average April 5.
The vessel was traveling to Europe from Asia on the New World Alliance’s AEX loop. Yang Ming and the Grand Alliance carrier’s Hapag-Lloyd, NYK, OOCL and MISC all take slots on the weekly service.
