Suape box terminal orders cranes
Suape Container Terminal, a Brazilian terminal operator owned by the Filipino group International Container Terminal Services Inc., has ordered two post-Panamax quay cranes and two rubber-tired gantries from Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery Co. Ltd.
“The new container handling equipment will boost Suape Container Terminal’s crane capacity twofold,” a spokesman for the Brazilian terminal operator said.
The post-Panamax ship-to-shore cranes will be capable of handling the world’s largest vessels, having an outreach of 47.5 meters (156 feet), enough to work 18-container-wide vessels.
The new cranes are expected to be operational by the end of 2005.
