SYNTEGRA TO DEVELOP AIR FREIGHT HANDLING SYSTEM
Syntegra, a U.K.-based developer of transportation software, said it plans to build an information technology system to manage air freight ground handling operations at airports.
The company said it will launch its CargoChorus system for major airlines and their partners this year. Syntegra will release a first module called Terminal Management, which is designed to eliminate costly paperwork associated with ground handling.
Syntegra is working with Compuware Corp. to develop the system incorporating Compuware’s UNIFACE product.
“We have been working on the concepts and design of CargoChorus for two years and see this as complementary to the work completed by the CARGO 2000 group, which has focused on producing standard industry processes and improved reliability,” said Mike Navin, Syntegra’s strategic sales specialist for air cargo.
Syntegra was one of the two finalists beside Unisys in competition to develop Cargo 2000’s central IT system, until the airline-forwarder group voted not to use a central system.
