SYNTRA SIGNS CONTRACTS WITH COMMERX, CDWORLD.COM
Syntra, a New York-based developer of international logistics software, has won contracts from Commerx Inc., an operator of online business-to-business exchanges, and CDworld.com, an online retailer of compact discs, videos and computer goods, for the use of Syntra's Internet-based landed cost and export compliance software.
The announcements follow a licensing deal Syntra signed with DHL Airways, the U.S. operating arm of international express giant DHL Worldwide Express, in January. DHL currently is piloting Syntra's landed cost software with select customers.
Commerx, which operates the PlasticsNet.com online exchange, will use Syntra's software to help expand overseas. CDworld will allow its shopping clients to access Syntra's landed cost and export compliance engines via the CDworld web site.
Syntra's software is designed to allow users instant visibility into the entire cost — including transportation. duties and taxes — of shipping across borders. Analysts say software like Syntra's is crucial to the development of international electronic commerce.
