TACA’s bunker charges take off
Carriers of the Trans-Atlantic Conference Agreement plan to raise bunker charges substantially July 16, saying fuel prices have shown “exceptionally high price increases.”
For shipments to and from U.S. Atlantic and Gulf ports, the conference’s bunker adjustment factor will go up from $158 to $198 per 20-foot container and from $316 to $396 per 40-footer.
For traffic to and from Pacific Coast ports, the charge will rise from $237 to $297 per 20-foot box and from $474 to $594 per 40-foot container.
TACA carriers are Atlantic Container Line, Hapag-Lloyd, Maersk Sealand, Mediterranean Shipping Co., NYK Line, Orient Overseas Container Line and P&O Nedlloyd.
