TASMAN ORIENT RAISES EAST ASIA/NEW ZEALAND RATES

   Tasman Orient said that it will raise freight rates in January from East Asia to New Zealand.

   The increases, for shipments from Hong Kong, Taiwan and South China, will be $100 (U.S.) per 20-foot container and $200 (U.S.) per 40-foot box.

   Tasman Orient said that costs have been increasing, while average freight rates have continually declined.
