TEAMSTER AIR MECHANICS RATIFY UPS CONTRACT
Aircraft mechanics at United Parcel Service have approved a five-year contract guaranteeing wage increases of more than 40 percent over the life of the agreement, which is retroactive to Aug. 1, 2001 — the date the previous contract became amendable.
Among 1,200 UPS mechanics, members of the Airline Division of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, 65 percent voted in favor of the new pact. Voter turnout was 90 percent.
The contract also provides pension contributions of 13 percent of weekly pay by the employer, and a separate 401k plan with a three percent company match.
