Thompson Line changing Cayman schedule

Thompson Line said Wednesday that due to increased cruise ship activity into Grand Cayman on Sundays, it is changing its weekly departure from Port Everglades from Fridays to Thursdays.

   The change will take effect on Thursday, February 1. Thompson said the increased cruise traffic has made it harder to complete the discharge of cargo from the current Friday sailings by the scheduled time of 8 a.m. on Mondays.

   With the new schedule, Thompson will begin discharging cargo on Saturday evenings instead of Sunday evenings.

   'Departing one day earlier will ensure that we have the time necessary to fully discharge our vessel and will make cargo available to our customers no later than Monday morning,' a statement from the line said.
