Tideworks installed in Tampa
The marine terminal software company Tideworks Technology said Wednesday that its container terminal management suite of products has been successfully deployed by P&O Ports North America's terminal at the Port of Tampa.
Tideworks said its technology is gaining an increasing presence within Florida, and is now being used by seven customers throughout the state. The Tideworks products now in use in Tampa are the first at a facility operated solely by P&O Ports North America.
The technology includes a terminal management system that provides real-time inventory management, workflow tools, and comprehensive integration with other business systems and port partners; an online product known as Mainsail that provides enhanced, instantaneous communication by giving customers and partners access to selected terminal data; and a planning software that provides terminal operators with fully-integrated vessel, berth, yard, and rail planning tools in one workspace, the company said, helping to maximize cargo volumes and increase vessel turn times.
'Using Tideworks' system via an ASP model (Application Service Provider hosted on remote servers) has proven to be a very cost-effective and reliable solution for us,' said Lawrence Jones, general manager, P&O Ports North America, Tampa Terminal. 'We took over the operation of the terminal in Tampa in early June and had a lot of activities to coordinate in a relatively short time period. Having a premier system with unrivaled support like Tideworks' was crucial to ensure business continuity and quality customer service.'
The terminal management and communications applications use the remote server, while the vessel and yard planning technology uses a local server, Tideworks officials said.
