TRADEPOINT INTRODUCES MANIFEST 24 SOFTWARE
TradePoint Systems LLC has developed a Web-based software application that fulfills the requirements of the new U.S. Customs 24-hour advance cargo manifest rule, which became effective Dec. 2.
The Manifest 24 system enables carriers to complete the requirements set forth in the latest initiative of U.S. Customs, TradePoint said. The system puts the onus of data entry on the non-vessel-operating common carrier at the origin, while allowing the NVOCC at the destination to validate the data before it is submitted to U.S. Customs, the software company said.
Under the new 24-hour Customs rule, shipping lines and non-vessel-operating common carriers have to transmit manifest information to U.S. Customs for all U.S.-bound shipments or containers 24 hours in advance of loading on the ship at the overseas port.
“Extensive regulatory and documentation requirements play a crucial role in ensuring the flow of legitimate trade and the nation's security, but at the same time these requirements can hinder the flow of international trade and place a heavy burden on the international trade businesses that are mandated to comply,” TradePoint said.
