TRANS-PACIFIC LINES TAKES SPACE ON WAN HAI SHIPS
Hong Kong-based Trans-Pacific Lines has announced another slot charter agreement in the transpacific trade, this time with Taiwanese carrier Wan Hai Lines.
Trans-Pacific Lines said that it will also use slot charters with other lines to cover Shanghai and Taiwan.
The five 2,526-TEU vessels previously operated by Trans-Pacific Lines in its transpacific service were recently off-chartered by their owners, and chartered out to Sinotrans Container Lines, leaving Trans-Pacific Lines short of containerships for its service.
Trans-Pacific Lines said that it is “in the market to replace its interim fleet with larger and more efficient ships” and intends to continue its independent weekly service.
The carrier recently concluded a slot-charter agreement in the transpacific trade with CMA CGM.
