TRANSCORE BUYS CARRIERPOINT SOFTWARE, ASSETS

   TransCore, a privately held transportation services, said Thursday it has purchased the transportation management system software and related intellectual property assets of CarrierPoint, Inc., an Atlanta-based software and services provider.

   TransCore, based in Beaverton, Ore., did not disclose the amount of the transaction.

   CarrierPoint has provided Web-based applications that facilitate the management of freight movements within a shipper’s back office. After acquiring CarrierPoint’s assets, TransCore now offers shippers an integrated transportation management package tailored to specific business processes, such as contract management, freight payment and tracking the status of shipped goods.

   The CarrierPoint service and brand will continue. TransCore has hired selected CarrierPoint employees, and will relocate operations to TransCore’s office in Norcross, Ga., TransCore said in a statement.

   TransCore has 1,700 employees and installations in 39 countries.
