TSA streamlines international outreach
The U.S. Transportation Security Administration said last week it has created an Office of Global Strategies to coordinate cooperation on international transportation security with foreign governments.
The TSA has representatives in overseas embassies to share ideas on security matters and aviation security officers who help arrange inspections before planes depart for the United States.
The mission of the Global Strategies office is to improve communications, and share information and best practices with other governments that are fighting terrorism, the TSA said.
Examples of international cooperation that the Office of Global Strategies aims to increase and strengthen include common strategies on screening liquids, aerosols and gels; implementing advanced technologies; and intelligence sharing.
