TURKON LINE ADDS SEVENTH SHIP TO U.S./MED SERVICE
Turkon Line Inc. has added a seventh 1,155-TEU vessel, the 'Leyla Kalkavan,' to is U.S. Mediterranean service.
The vessel sailed on its maiden voyage Wednesday from New York's Howland Hook Terminal. It joins six sister ships in the service's rotation of New York, Norfolk, Charleston, Lisbon, Barcelona, Marseilles, Genoa, Gemlik, Istanbul and Izmir.
The 'Leyla Kalkavan' was built at Kalkavan's Sedef Shipyard in Istanbul, Turkey, and has a service speed of 19 knots.
