U-FREIGHT’S DIRECT EDI SPEEDS AIR CARGO FOR SHANGHAI

U-FREIGHT’S DIRECT EDI SPEEDS AIR CARGO FOR SHANGHAI

U-Freight, a forwarder in Hong Kong, said Wednesday its new direct EDI link to Shanghai Customs has improved customer service by 48 hours.

Since Sept. 1, Shanghai Customs has required agents to submit house air waybill and manifest details for imported air-freight shipments via EDI.

“Our customers are getting their shipments cleared two days faster that they would without the direct EDI link,” said U-Freight managing director Anthony Fong.

Forwarders without the link must wait for individual airlines to key the manifest and master air waybills into the Shanghai Customs system.
