U.S. agencies seek safe radioactive material transport input

The U.S. Transportation Department’s Research and Special Programs Administration and Nuclear Regulatory Commission jointly seek proposed changes to the International Atomic Energy Agency regulations for safe transport of radioactive material.

Proposed changes are submitted by the United States and other IAEA member countries, which may lead to changes in national laws.

The IAEA revises its regulations for the safe transport of radioactive materials to reflect new information and experiences. The IAEA recently initiated the review cycle for the 2007 edition of the regulations.

For more information about submitting proposals, contact Rick Boyle of the DOT’s Office of Hazardous Material Technology, at (202) 366-2993.
