U.S. air cargo surged 12.3 percent in July
Air freight and express cargo carried by U.S. airlines rose 12.3 percent to about 1.03 billion revenue ton-miles in July, from 919 million in July 2003, the U.S. Air Transport Association reported.
Freight and express activity increased 14 percent to about 528 million revenue ton-miles on Pacific routes in July, and went up 12 percent to 407 million ton-miles on Atlantic routes in the same month. The increase on Latin routes was 5.5 percent in July, to about 97 million ton-miles.
For the first seven months of the year, freight and express cargo carried by the association’s airlines increased 9.5 percent year-on-year to 6.9 billion revenue ton-miles.
The airlines of the Air Transport Association are Aloha, Alaska, America West, American, ATA, Continental (including Micronesia), Delta, FedEx, Hawaiian, JetBlue, Midwest, Northwest. Southwest, United, UPS and U.S. Airways.
