U.S. ambassador changing in Dominican Republic
The U.S. ambassador to the Dominican Republic is changing this week, with Robert Fannin taking over for Han Hertel.
Fannin was appointed by President Bush in February. Fannin is from Phoenix, Ariz., where he was active in local and regional economic development efforts. He was a partner in the law firm Steptoe and Johnson LLP.
Hertel received a sendoff at the Santo Domingo airport, where he remarked that he was thankful to the people of the Dominican Republic, who had 'received me like its son,' according to a report in Dominican Today.
