U.S. ARMY TO DEMONSTRATE HIGH-SPEED VESSEL
The U.S. Army said it would demonstrate a new high-speed vessel on Aug. 13 in the Port of Tacoma, Wash.
The HSV-XI Joint Venture, a test vessel leased by the Army, will deliver soldiers and vehicles from the Stryker Brigade Combat Team returning from a military exercise in California.
The Joint Venture is a 313-foot aluminum catamaran with a top speed greater than 40 knots, which can carry 850 short tons and accommodate 363 personnel, including crew. It is four times faster than any current Army watercraft.
