U.S.-CHINESE BILATERAL TALKS ADVANCE

The U.S. Maritime Administration said Friday that negotiations held in
Washington D.C. this week between U.S. and Chinese delegations "took place in a
friendly, frank and constructive spirit."
The two sides "agreed on the range of issues" to be discussed in a
new
bilateral maritime agreement.
Clyde J. Hart Jr., U.S. maritime administrator, led the American
delegation. Hong Shanxiang, China’s vice minister of communications, headed the Chinese
contingent.
Both sides agreed to hold another round of talks in China by mid-December.
