U.S. COMMITTEE PREPARES FOR IMO MEETING
The U.S. State Department’s Shipping Coordinating Committee will hold a meeting in Washington on June 19 to prepare for the International Maritime Organization’s Sixth Session of the Subcommittee on Dangerous Goods, Solid Cargoes and Containers on July 16-20.
The meeting will cover the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code; emergency schedules; the Code of Safe Practice for Solid Bulk Cargoes; cargo securing manual; casualty and incident reports; multimodal training requirements; stowage and segregation requirements for freight containers; development of a manual on loading and unloading solid bulk cargoes; and amendments to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea.
