U.S. considers GSP benefits for East Timor
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative will take comments regarding the eligibility of East Timor to participate in the Generalized System of Preferences program.
Under GSP, approved developing countries are allowed to ship certain products to the United States without paying import duties. The USTR plans to make a recommendation to President Bush to include East Timor in the program.
Comments may be sent to the USTR’s GSP Subcommittee by e-mail at fr0618@ustr.eop.gov no later than Aug. 25. For more information, contact the GSP Subcommittee in Washington at (202) 395-6971.
