U.S. CUSTOMS EXTENDS POST ENTRY AMENDMENT PROCESSING TEST

U.S. Customs said it has extended its post entry amendment-processing test until Dec. 31.

The test, which was introduced by the agency on Nov. 28, 2000, allows importers to amend entry summaries for formal entries prior to liquidation by filing to Customs either an individual amendment letter upon discovery of an error or a quarterly tracking report covering any errors that occurred during the quarter.

In addition to the test extension, Customs has made minor systems modifications to allow importers to use any Microsoft Word software to interface with the agency’s database.
