U.S. CUSTOMS RAISES CIVIL PENALTIES FOR ILLEGAL VESSEL TOWING
The U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection has raised the maximum penalty for illegal vessel towing in U.S. waters from $1,000 to $1,100 against the owner or master.
The penalty against the towing vessel also increases from $50 per ton of the vessel towed to $60 per ton.
