U.S./Dominican/Haiti carriers plan joint service contracts
Shipping lines of the Hispaniola Discussion Agreement, a carrier group in the trade connecting U.S. Atlantic, Gulf and Puerto Rico ports to ports in the Dominican Republic and Haiti, have filed an amendment with the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission to have the right to enter into joint service contracts.
The carriers of the Hispaniola Discussion Agreement are Crowley Liner Services, Seaboard Marine, Tropical Shipping and Frontier Liner Services.
The U.S. Ocean Shipping Reform Act of 1998 allows service contracts between several ocean common carriers and one or more shippers.
