U.S. DOT GRANTS UPS FINAL APPROVAL FOR U.S./CHINA AIR RIGHTS
The U.S. Department of Transportation late Wednesday gave final approval for Atlanta-based United Parcel Service to fly directly to and from China six days a week.
The giant express carrier and package delivery company must still receive operating authority from China that would permit the service to start by April 1.
UPS said it will use Boeing 747 aircraft on the six weekly flights, with four flights originating in Ontario, Calif. and two from Newark, N.J.
The DOT had granted UPS tentative approval on Nov. 21
