U.S. DOT grants UPS more access to Hong Kong

UPS said it received permission from the U.S. Department of Transportation to add six more freighter flights between Hong Kong and its Asian-hub in the Philippines.

Under the new authority, UPS will provide twice daily service between Hong Kong and the Philippines, as well as direct service between Hong Kong and Singapore. The new flights will begin in October.

UPS now holds 18 of an additional 56 flight frequencies authorized under a 2002 U.S.-Hong Kong bilateral aviation agreement. The agreement allows UPS so-called seventh freedom rights to operate direct flights between Hong Kong and other countries without returning to the United States.
