U.S.-EU customs collaboration to cover pirated goods
U.S. Customs and European Union officials agreed in Brussels last week to expand mutual customs cooperation efforts by setting up a working group on joint enforcement of intellectual property crimes, according to a meeting summary posted on the Customs and Border Protection Web site.
Acting Commissioner Deborah Spero participated in joint customs talks with the EU and separately met with Michel Danet, secretary-general of the World Customs Organization, about ongoing efforts to support customs modernization efforts in developing countries to help promote the adoption of global cargo security standards.
