U.S., India resolve 17-year trade dispute over mangoes
The United States and India have resolved a 17-year-old trade dispute over imports of Indian-produced mangoes.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Indian Department of Agriculture and Cooperation reached an agreement March 2 regarding potential pests and diseases, and agreed on a framework outlining basic requirements for bilateral trade of commodities treated by irradiation.
The USDA said the agreement should permit mangoes from India to be sold in the U.S. markets in as few as 18 months.
