U.S. international air cargo sluggish in February
International air freight and express shipments carried by U.S. airlines increased a modest 0.1 percent to about 923 million revenue ton-miles in February, from 922 million in February 2004, according to the latest statistics of the U.S. Air Transport Association.
The monthly increase follows a 15-percent volume surge in January.
Freight and express activity on Pacific routes declined 3 percent to 441 million revenue ton-miles in February, possibly due to the Chinese New Year holidays.
Freight and express volumes fell 1 percent to 94 million ton-miles on Latin routes in the same month.
Traffic on Atlantic routes increased 4 percent to 388 million ton-miles in February.
