U.S. INTERNATIONAL AIR FREIGHT TRAFFIC UP BY 0.7% IN JUNE
The U.S. Air Transport Association reported a small rebound in U.S. international freight and express traffic for June, as volume carried by association airline members increased by 0.7 percent, to 948 million revenue ton-miles.
By contrast, international mail traffic was down 13 percent during the same period, to 36 million ton-miles.
Total international cargo traffic, including freight, express and mail, increased by 0.1 percent, to 984 million ton-miles, from 983 million ton-miles in June 2001.
U.S. Air Transport Association members include Alaska, Aloha, America West, American, American Trans Air, Continental, Continental Micronesia, Delta, Emery, Federal Express, Hawaiian, JetBlue, Midwest Express, Northwest, Southwest, United, UPS and U.S. Airways.
