U.S. Lines sell slots to ANL
Santa Ana, Calif.-based U.S. Lines said Wednesday it has filed a slot charter agreement with the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission that would authorize the sale of slots to ANL on its new fixed-day weekly service between Southern California, New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong and South China.
USL’s new service departs from Los Angeles and sails southbound direct to Tauranga, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, then northbound to Shekou and Hong Kong before sailing eastbound across the Pacific, back to Los Angeles.
Under terms of the agreement, USL will provide and operate the fleet of eight ships and will supply ANL with a fixed amount of slots on a weekly basis. USL has also granted ANL the option to deliver two ships into the service in mid-2007.
