U.S. Military awards $1.5 billion heavy-lift contract to PWC
The U.S. Military has awarded Kuwait City-based PWC Logistics a heavy-lift transportation contract, described by PWC as the “largest heavy-lift transportation contract ever awarded by the U.S. Military.”
The total value of the contract, commencing July 15, may reach up to KWD 449 million ($1.5 billion) with an initial 12-month commitment followed by four one-year extension options. During each 12-month period, the contract value may reach up to KWD 89.7 million ($305 million). The actual value for each time period will depend on the volume of transportation services required.
Earlier this month, expanding PWC Logistics was awarded a contract by the Defense Logistics Agency to distribute food and related items to U.S. troops in Kuwait, Iraq and Jordan. The deal, starting in December, is worth up to $14 billion over a five year period.
Already this year, PWC Logistics has acquired Kenner, La.-based project cargo specialist Transoceanic Shipping Co. and Singapore-based logistics services provider Trans-Link Group.
