U.S. pizza exports said to undermine Canadian food producers
Canada said it has launched an investigation into charges that U.S. companies are dumping frozen self-rising pizza onto the Canadian market at below market prices.
New Brunswick-based McCain Foods Ltd. filed the complaint. A trade tribunal will issue a preliminary ruling within 60 days on whether Canadian producers are being harmed. Concurrently, the Canada Border Services Agency will look into possible dumping violations and decide within 90 days if corrective duties are warranted.
Canada Border Services Agency is a new agency that incorporates enforcement functions and other roles previously conducted by the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency.
