U.S. plans to complete trade talks with Morocco by year end
The U.S. government said it intends to conclude free-trade agreement talks with Morocco by the end of the year.
“The agreement will be an important first step in President Bush’s plan to promote trade expansion and economic reforms in North Africa and the Middle East leading to a Middle East Free Trade Area within a decade,” the U.S. Trade Representative said in a statement.
According to the USTR, U.S. imports about $381 million in goods a year from Morocco. U.S. companies export about $475 million in products, such as planes, corn and machinery, to Morocco. Other U.S. products with potential in Morocco are oilseeds and feed grains.
