U.S./SOUTH AFRICA CARRIERS ADD DURBAN CONGESTION CHARGE
Shipping lines of the United States South Africa Conference are introducing a port congestion surcharge for all U.S. and Canada cargo to and from the port of Durban, South Africa.
The port surcharge will be $75 per TEU, effective Feb. 15.
The United States South Africa Conference carriers are Maersk Sealand, its sister company Safmarine, and Mediterranean Shipping Co.
“The measure is in response to substantial berthing delays,” said Maersk Sealand.
