U.S. to reopen trade with Serbia
The U.S. State Department has determined that Serbia and Montenegro have met human rights conditions and restored relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina required by U.S. for normal trade relations.
The State Department has notified Congress and plans to issue a public notice of its intent to restore normal trade relations after a 30-day waiting period.
Normal trade status was revoked in 1992 because of ethnic cleansing and other human rights abuses carried out by the regime of Slobodan Milosovic and Serbian militia forces against Bosnian Serbs and others.
